People of All Ages Need to Be Aware of Their Gum Health
Posted on 7/7/2020 by Ronald Watkins
Taking care of your gums is all part of taking care of your teeth, right? What about the demographic of people who may not have teeth, specifically the elderly and those who haven't even gotten their baby teeth yet? It's a common misconception that taking care of your oral hygiene is only important to help preserve your teeth, but the fact remains: taking care of your gums is vital - no matter your age.
From Infancy to Seniority: Proper Oral Health Care
With every age group comes a unique set of challenges in taking care of your gums. Getting on the right path for good gum care is important and starting early can help prevent problems later in life.

•
Adults: With adulthood comes the freedom to make your own food choices. Choose a diet rich in vitamins and minerals and stay on top of your brushing and flossing.
•
Seniors: Some seniors may be missing some or all of their teeth, and it'

s tempting to believe that without teeth, there is no need to take care of your gums. However, gum disease can happen even without teeth and have far-reaching consequences, including heart attack and stroke.
Regardless of your age, you can benefit from proper care of your teeth and gums. Taking time to brush and floss every day is critical to keeping your mouth healthy. Scheduling regular dental appointments can also keep gum disease at bay. Please give our office a call to schedule an exam with a cleaning and keep the momentum up in preserving your healthy smile!
