How Can I Save My Teeth?

Posted on 3/20/2023 by Ronald Watkins
How Can I Save My Teeth?Nearly 200 million American adults have lost at least one tooth during their lifetime. Usually, losing one tooth is due to an accident, injury, or dental surgery.

However, over 35 million Americans have lost all of their teeth. If you are worried about saving your teeth and making sure you have them for a lifetime, here are some great tips for saving your teeth.

Tip One- Brush and Floss

If you brush and floss your teeth twice a day, you will help stop mouth bacteria in its tracks. It's the mouth bacteria that cause tooth loss and gum disease. Not sure if you are brushing the right way? Ask the dentist for additional tips.

Tip Two- Visit the Dentist

One of the reasons you need to visit the dentist is for preventative maintenance on your teeth. If you visit the dentist regularly, they will be able to spot any trouble before it becomes a huge issue.

Tip Three- Don't Smoke or Chew

While smoking or chewing tobacco raises your chance substantially of getting cancer, that's not the only problem with tobacco. Chewers and smokers also raise the chance of tooth loss and gum disease.

Tip Four- Avoid Eating Too Much Sugar

Eating sugar is bad for your body in general, but it is especially bad for your teeth. If you are a sugar junkie, you are not giving your teeth their best shot at staying healthy.

Sugar is the food that all of the bacteria in your mouth love. In fact, eating too much sugar causes the bacteria in your mouth to multiply to thrive.
